The Clearwater Marine Aquarium – CMA, is the home of famous film inspired dolphin, Winter. The aquarium is a unique facility, specializing in the rescue, rehabilitation and release of sick or injured marine animals. All the animals that come through the aquarium doors arrive because they were suffering from an illness or severe injury in the wild.

That was the case of Winter, a three months of age dolphin that found herself wrapped tightly in a crab trap line and was unable to escape. She was rescued from Mosquito Lagoon (near Cape Canaveral) and transported to CMA to begin a long rehabilitation. Unfortunately, Winter lost her entire tail as well as two vertebrae a result of the serious injuries that she had sustained.

You can visit Winter at Clearwater Marine Aquarium in beautiful Clearwater Beach, Florida! It is just a 90 minute drive from Paradise Palms towards Tampa.
